Do you need to know why something happened in order to heal it?
I posit this - what we're looking for in analysing the story is the "feeling" of relief that dissipates it's power. We tell the story over and again just waiting for that relief to come upon us. Dr Lad tells us that what can dissipate a bad feeling is being present in the feeling, breathing into it and allowing it a voice. Non resistance.
You can help the stuck emotion by practising non resistance in other parts of your life to build up the emotional muscle for when the memory overtakes you.
In colloquial terms "meh" is the antidote.
