If you find your attention gets distracted by outside noise easily, try this.
- Focus on the noise and stay there. Don't try and wish it away, find a rhythm in it and breathe.
- Then switch the same attention to another noise.
- And another.
- Then bring it closer to noise around you, remember to breathe the same rhythm.
- Then focus on the breathe. In and out.
It takes practise but being with the frustration and using the breath medium as the acceptance vehicle and then slowly easing out of it has helped me to focus in when I start working.
