The possibility of Trump-ism in your quest for Dharma

The possibility of Trump-ism in your quest for Dharma

USA I desperately want to make you happy.

There is a brilliant cartoonist that lives around my way called Michael Leunig, who is kind of famous here in Australia. He has been contributing to local papers for a really long time. I buy his birthday cards for everyone I know. Someone in my small odd town told me he suffered from depression. Interesting comment to make. I don't actually know if this is true. And it's not important and it is.

He has this way. A way of "dark crystallising everything" (one of my favourite movies of all times), meaning he doesn't opt for good over evil, he puts them both in the same pot and, as Dr Lad says when he talks about bad food combinations, they learn to get along.

A Vata pacifying way of viewing the world. I once heard Svoboda say that you can cure Pitta and Kapha but you can only manage Vata, since it is the essence of movement and change. Just tap dance alongside the changes, making sure both feet touch the ground.

I took myself off Facebook for the time being. Trump had created a wall, a wailing wall of such immense grief and downward spiralling of spirit, it was starting to depress me. We are taught in Ayurveda that you shouldn't consume food when your emotions are heightened because when you think about it fear and anger have a constricting element to them and therefore stop the natural flow of juices needed to break things down. When you are in immense stress and anger, you stop the flow, is what I'm saying.

I was getting wrapped up in the drama because it kind of brought us together. If you dig deep enough, I wonder how people feel about that. But it wasn't a sustainable bond, it was based on the same emotions that caused a rise in the emperor with no clothes.

This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.

I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence. Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge — even wisdom. Like art.
— Toni Morrison

I sat with a friend yesterday in a cafe who was just distraught at the results. The US might be surprised to find out how far this net has been cast. It was hard to see her in so much pain. I asked her a question I want to ask of you too - can you see this energy as a propulsion instead? All those folks that want to make good things and see the positive in the world - can you use this rise up of passion to finally do the things you've been putting off because you guys invented the super hero (actually I've never heard the word "super" used as much as when I lived in the US) because you're a super power so of course right?

And what if?

What if the super power was a collection of folks that had cultivated their prana so big and wide and immense that it could affect those around them?

Here's my amateur viewpoint on the situation. The reds were more consolidated in their belief, the blues were wishy washy - too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the broth as they say. The reds were not stronger, the blues were weaker. They broke the chain of what was naturally forming and used their heads and not their hearts. Oh well.

The blues did not prepare their prana strong enough to penetrate the force field. It all got a little too comfortable under the Obama reign. Now you know that anything is possible. Donald trump has shown you that anything is possible. No resting on laurels in this here Kali Yuga or time of darkness. The golden light is hidden in the dark corner. Buried treasure is underground. The vista is at the top of the mountain. For some reason, as humans, that's how we like it.

Now imagine this.

Imagine that the propulsive energy that has been created in the world is nothing but an opportunity for you to live your Dharma. Since I got off Facebook I have created my own line of products with a twist, and started writing more. I let this site go claiming root chakra survival stuff where this is where my heart was. I am happier in the last week than I have been all year.

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of what can be, for the eye, which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating as possibility
— Soren Kierkegaard, Either/Or

Now imagine a bunch of folks doing what they love BIG TIME. Imagine them getting together to form a positive movement forward. Imagine the net or pranic field that would be created with this sparkly love inducing net and what hearts you might capture along the way.

Imagine if this dark night produces some of the greatest artists of our time.

Some might say colour therapy is not under the umbrella of Ayurveda in my industry but really, taking out the colour spectrum to decide what is nature and what isn't can kiss my arse. (Reason: because it isn't written in the scriptures.) But here on a+W I decided that everything is nature, the good bad and ugly and the unique point of view reference is you. You can decide if you will take an authoritarian viewpoint of the literal word OR be an interpretative conduit on how you see the qualities.

The role of the expert is dead. The role of the seer is rising. In my humble opinion.

Ahem. I will continue.

Red is made up of fire and ether. It is pungent. It is intense and extroverted and punchy. It grabs you and makes you pay attention. It is stimulating to sexual passion and sharpens the mind. It can also agitate the mind and can lead those that have enough fire in their system, to critical speech, right and wrong thinking, my way or the highway buddy!

Blue is air and ether. It is dry and light, cold and bitter. Blue is a reducing colour, it makes you go inward, it cools inflammation and tempers a raging sea of blood. It dries up phlegm and clears obstructions but long term use can increase fear and anxiety. It's use in spirituality can promote detachment, contemplation and meditation.

So it depends on what you need, it's a balancing act.

Purple is a combination of red and blue. If you google purple it comes up that it is considered a spiritual colour. Here's some random notes from the web -

  • purple is associated with nobility and power
  • it is used to inspire us and motivate us to put our creativity into action
  • it has the shortest wave and highest vibrational frequency
  • reversing curses and counteracting negativity/back magic (ooooh!)

It is the role of the artist to twist things. The rise of science and art is coming (look around you and listen). I implore those in the so called spiritual field to get a grip and channel that energy to do the best work of your life. Yogananda Paramahamsa said in his book "Autobiography of a Yogi" that the world will only end if there is only good or only evil.

Until then, we should all start wearing purple (cue music).

Start Wearing Purple from Gogol Bordello. I saw these guys play in Seattle in 2000 from a random passing through town let's just turn up and see what this is about. I've since seen them at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland with an entire crowd bouncing to this song. The energy in that room can change the world...
