Digestion is in the eyes too. We forget that sometimes and take in impressions we might not be able to digest. When I do lectures I can tell the state of the students digestions by how they look at me. Their Vata might be too high and they can't focus or their immunity is shot and they just don't have the energy to remain alert.
And so it is with visual impressions. We need to be able to swallow what's before us. My recent article with Christine Sayer who photographs mental disease is quite intense and beautiful. She wants to prompt questions to gain compassion for not only the sufferer but also the family and friends associated with the disease.
